NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -
The Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh is hosting the United Leasing Championship tournament later this week. It will feature a field of 156 golfers competing over 72 holes of stroke play for a purse of $550-thousand dollars.
This tournament will be televised internationally via the Golf Channel. Monday and Tuesday golfers will be qualifying and the rest of the week is tournament play.
This event is more than a golf tournament. It has turned into a community event. Over 100 local charities are getting a cut from ticket sales and thousands of people have offered their time to help. The nationwide tour event consists of future pros, on the PGA tour, and will be seen, in 184 countries.
A traffic heads-up:because of the road construction in the area parking will be available at Castle High School with van and bus transportation to the course. There will also be overflow parking available at the nearby middle school, elementary school and Warrick education center.
Parking attendants will have signs to hopefully speed up the process.
