TELL CITY, IN (WFIE) -

In Perry county, the body of a man reported missing Saturday is found Sunday morning in the Ohio River.

Tell City Police say the search for 20-year-old Derrick Sandage began Saturday night and ended around 8:00 Sunday morning.

Tell City Police say preliminary autopsy results show Sandage died from an accidental drowning.

On Saturday, Tell City Police received a call that Sandage, of Cannelton, had gone missing.

"We later learned that he was last seen along the river bank between Cannelton and Tell City, closer to the Tell City side," authorities said.

That was where units from multiple city, county, and state police offices started their search.

"That search was unsuccessful by dark. They utilized boats, search and rescue teams, along with State Police K-9's to try to locate the male subject. It was unsuccessful, they closed the search at night, and resumed again this morning."

They say shortly after 8:00 a.m., police found the body of a deceased male in the river, near a Tell City Boatworks shipyard.

Right now, it isn't clear if foul play was involved, or if drugs and alcohol may have been a factor, in Sandage's death.

Perry County Coroner Charlie Baumeister says an autopsy will be conducted Monday morning.

Baumeister says the results of the autopsy should be available Monday afternoon.
