DUBOIS CO, IN (WFIE) -

Indiana Conservation Officers arrested a man on charges of boating while intoxicated on West Boggs Lake on Friday night.

Officers say they were patrolling West Boggs Lake on Friday and stopped 36-year-old John L. Richards of Calendonia Ontario, initially for boating operation and registration violations. Authorities say they then found that Richards had been consuming alcoholic beverages and gave him field sobriety tests. The results of those tests lead to Richards being transported for further testing.

Richards was lodged in Daviess County Jail for boating while intoxicated related charges after testing .14 BAC.

In addition to routine water patrols, on June 22, 23, 24, Indiana Conservation Officers are also participating in a nationwide campaign called Operation Dry Water. This campaign is to specifically address intoxicated boat operators on our state's lakes, reservoirs and rivers.
