Multiple Fire Departments battled a raging field/forest fire near the Pike County and Gibson County lines. This is just east of Oakland City.
The fire was contained in a small area.
At first, several homes were threatened and some were evacuated as a precaution. Currently, no homes or businesses are in danger.
Also, authorities asked the public to stay away from the area for the safety of fire personnel and of course the safety of the public.
The Red Cross was on scene, handing out cold drinks and snacks to the volunteer firefighters battling the fire.
