Friday night, the gates to historic Bosse Field open, so you can watch the movie "A League of Their Own" inside the very stadium where it was filmed 20 years ago, and it's going to be a special memory for one lady who actually played in the league.
Eighty-eight-year-old Erma Bergman's said stepping into Bosse Field for the first time since she saw it on the big screen brought back a sense of nostalgia.
"It's got some memories,," Bergman said.
Bergman was a pitcher in the All-American Girls Baseball league for six years, two of which she played on the Racine Bells, one of the two teams featured in the movie.
"The movie is a meaningful thing that happened to me. You never dreamed it would be like that, but it did, it wound up being a big hit."
That hit is loved by millions who saw it.
"It didn't remind me of our players, because ours were professional ball players. Madonna, she's a good actress, but you never really thought she was a baseball player," Bergman said.
Our cameras were rolling twenty years ago when Hollywood chose Bosse.
"For Evansville, it'll be a very proud moment. For Hollywood to pick this stadium out of all the stadiums in America," said Evansville otters GM Joel Padfield.
Erma will be sitting side by side with two girls she played against in the league.
"I know when we talk to one another, we're talking a mile a minute and we're all smiles," she told 14 News.
She will no doubt be smiling when she gets to watch some of her best memories played out on screen in the same place where it all began.
"I'd say it's what you would call nostalgic. If a lot of people come it must mean the movie is well liked."
The movie will be shown at Bosse Field in Garvin Park. Gates open at 8:00 p.m. Friday night, tickets are $5.
