OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will take a look at the possibility of supporting a skate park in the city.

The main goal for the board is to decide whether they support the skate park project and will also consider a recommendation to the City Commission regarding the building of the park.

The recommendation will include more details like the size, location, hours of operation, rules and user load as well as other key elements of the park.

All this comes after city officials noticed a lot of damage from skaters at Riverfront Crossing and wanting youth to have a designated area to enjoy their hobby.

The meetings in the past have grown so much the board will now meet at City Hall this evening at 5 to hold everyone.

After tonight's meeting, Parks and Rec will need to prepare a recommendation to present at the city's August work session.
