ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A former Elizabethtown man, charged with 34 counts of rape and 16 counts of rape against a victim under 12, waived a probable cause hearing in Hardin County District Court Wednesday.

A grand jury will now determine whether there's enough evidence to formally charge Alfred Charles Ivey. He is accused of raping a girl for more than five years and fathering her child.

Kentucky State Police said a woman who lived at the Elizabethtown home with Ivey as a juvenile from 1999 until 2004 told them Ivey forcibly raped her repeatedly during that time. She gave birth to a child in 2004 when she was 13 years old and did not disclose the abuse or the identity of the child's father until recently.

A KSP spokesperson said that a paternity test revealed that Ivey fathered the child.

Police said Ivey is not related to the victim.

Ivey, 47, who now lives in Jessamine County, is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $500,000 cash bond.
