EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Garvin Park fountain has been around for 87 years and on Tuesday, Keep Evansville Beautiful rededicated the landmark.

With a ceremony to recognize the many individuals, groups, and businesses, who contributed to the revitalization of the park's fountain in 2011. It was the fourth time in the fountain's long history that it has been renovated. This recent renovation cost $55,000.

"People recognize that it was something that needed to be resurrected. It's a monument. It's a landmark for our community, this foundation," said Mike McGarrah with Keep Evansville Beautiful. "It's a very pleasant, very pleasing place to come. It's nicer than it's ever been, and it's certainly something that's a gem for Evansville."

The fountain was built in 1925, and renovated in the 30's, 60's, and 80's.
