There is a risk of widespread fire hazards because of the ongoing drought conditions, so many tri-state counties are issuing burn bans.
The Vanderburgh County Commission has voted to approve a burn ban for the county. The commission says it will start Wednesday and last until further notice.
Daviess County in Indiana has also issued a burn ban. The fire chiefs of Daviess County, the Daviess County Board of Commissioners has ordered a seven day burn ban effective 8:00 a.m. on June 19th until 8:00 a.m. on June 26th or until conditions warrant the lifting of the burn ban.
Pike County Board of Commissioners have declared a a county wide burn ban as of June 19. The ban will be in effect until July 2. At that time the Pike County Board of Commissioners shall reevaluate the ban.
Knox County, Indiana is under a ban as well.
Gibson County Commissioners say the county is now under a burn ban.
Officials in Wabash County in Illinois have also issued a ban.
Warrick County Commissioners issued a burn ban on Monday that will be in affect 24 hours a day until the ban is lifted.
Henderson County issued a burn on May 29th because of the drought conditions.
