SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said they are looking for two men who stole a $13,000 watch from a jewelry store Monday afternoon.

According to an incident report, two men walked into Smith Works Jewelers on East Henry Street about 12:30 p.m. and asked to see a silver and gold Rolex. It said that the two men looked over the watch before handing it back to the clerk. It said the pair then said they were going to lunch to discuss purchasing the watch.

The next day, a clerk noticed that the watch had an unusual tag on it, according to the incident report. It said that the employee inspected the watch and discovered it was a nearly exact replica of the watch the men were examining.

The report said that the employee reviewed security camera footage and noticed that one of the men placed the real watch in his pocket and handed the clerk the fake timepiece.

Anyone with information about the heist is asked to call the Spartanburg Public Safety Department at 864-596-2222.
