An official PGA Tour event comes to the tri-state next week.
The Victoria National Golf Club will host the United Leasing Championship Tournament, and the 156 golfers participating in the tourney will have to tackle Hole #2.
At a distance of just 371 yards, hole #2 is one of the club's four sub-400 par 4. Off the tee, players will have the options of either hitting a conservative tee shot to avoid the right side bunkers, or aggressively driving the shot to the left, and over the water hazard.
"About a 240 yard carry if you work it left. Maybe only 220 to the right. The second green here at Victoria is a little bigger than some of the other green complexes. It has a shape to it that allows some pins to be behind the bunker," said club pro, David Von Hoffman.
Hoffman says the green on hole #2 is very reachable by professional standards, and that the key to success here will be the short game.
"These guys will probably have a short iron in their hands, so they'll be still looking to make birdie," Hoffman said.
Hole #2 will be a good opportunity for any player to begin building an early lead, which they may need as they look toward a long hole #3.
