GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -
A traffic update this morning.
Thousands of drivers who rely on the Highway 41 exit ramp into Princeton will need to change their route.
The northbound Highway 41 ramp onto eastbound State Road 64 is slated to close today so that crews can connect a new exit ramp.
Work isn't expected to begin until 7 this morning, so early risers shouldn't have a problem.
INDOT says this detour should be minor, not much more than a mile.
Drivers are hoping this fixes a bottleneck problem that happens because of another light just east of the old ramp.
INDOT tells us the ramp will be closed 24 hours a day until a new exit is installed. They say the ramp should be reopened July 1st, weather permitting.
This is part of a close to $5 million project on Highway 41.
A few of the other things included in that project: construction of turn lanes at 41 and S.R. 168 as well as at 41 and C.R. 350 South.
Crews are also expected to pave about 10 miles of 41.
