VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

Two UE basketball players were involved in an ATV accident in Scott Township of Vanderburgh County.

Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the scene and according to the investigation, Rokas Cesnulevicius, 19, of Evansville, was operating a Polaris Ranger utility vehicle on private property.

Cesnulevicius made a sharp turn with the vehicle which caused the machine to turn, roll completely over, and come to rest back on its top. He was ejected from the machine and was pinned under it, where he sustained jaw injuries.

A passenger, Jaylon Moore, 19, of Evansville, was also ejected and sustained injuries to his ankle.

Cesnulevicius was taken to St. Mary's emergency room by helicopter, and Moore was transported by private vehicle to Deaconess Hospital.

A third passenger was not injured.

The preliminary investigation indicates that operator inexperience with this type of vehicle may have caused the accident. The accident is still under investigation.  Operator impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.

The UE Sports Information Director says they expect Cesnulevicius to be out of play for about six weeks.  The director says he expects Moore to be out for three to six weeks.
