VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Vanderburgh County Dental Clinic may soon become a part-time clinic, or shut down altogether.

Vanderburgh County Health Department Director Gary Heck says there simply isn't enough public funding to support a full-time dental clinic. He also says that its lead dentist will be leaving for a private practice at the end of this month.

Heck says that county budget hearings and voting will take place in August to decide the fate of the clinic.

"And all of this goes back a lot to the state's setting property tax caps and circuit breaker laws, which is fine. It's just that there's not money to support projects and programs. And this is one of the first, I guess, casualties for the county here."

The Health Department also says that they have conducted over 13,000 patient visits since 2006.
