OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

The fourth International Mystery Writers Festival is in full swing in Owensboro.

There's a large crowd on hand at the festival's home, the Riverpark Center, and organizers say the festival is making a comeback.

For the last two years, the festival was canceled due to the lack of state funding. With money available this year, the Riverpark Board hopes to keep the momentum and turn Mystery Writers into an annual event and grow.

The festival has attracted many people from out of town.

"It's just fun watching them put the sound together. The actresses and actors performing, the side work that's going on. You feel apart of radio but you feel part of the theater," said festival goer Leslie Carlisle.

"We've enjoyed mysteries and this looked like a unique opportunity to see new mysteries that we probably wouldn't get at home," said Joe Humphrey, who also attended the festival.

The Mystery Writers Festival isn't the only thing going on in Owensboro right now, Friday After Five is about to kick off as well.
