LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) - A man's leg had to be amputated after a driver leading police on a pursuit crashed into him in Oldham County.
Police finally caught up with the driver, Nicholas Snoddy, 23, and filed numerous charges against him.
The man seriously hurt was on a motorcycle. Police said the 65-year-old man was listed in critical condition at University Hospital Thursday evening.
Officers tried to stop Snoddy earlier, but couldn't safely catch up with him. "He was doing 100 mph in a 55 mph zone. At that rate of speed, there's no correction. Snoddy was going way to fast," Oldham County Deputy Michael Smith said.
The 65-year-old rider was thrown from his Harley on Highway 53. Police said the older man was driving north. Snoddy switched lanes going more than 100-miles an hour and then hit the motorcyclist head-on.
"Thankfully, the older man survived," Smith said.
The Oldham County Police Department has taken over accident reconstruction.
