A miniature pincher dog, left blind from abuse and neglect, was found in a trash bag on a deserted field, according to Phoenix police.
A man was being sought in connection with leaving the young dog to die.
The dog, named Andre, was rescued by a person Jan. 3, who saw the suspect take a "Hefty" type garbage bag out of the car, leave it in the field and then drive off.
The witness approached the bag and saw the bag move and heard whimpering. The witness opened the bag and found Andre, who appeared to be blind.
The dog was taken to Maricopa County Animal Control where it was determined the eyes were severely injured and had to be surgically removed.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, about 18 years old, and a thin build. He was driving a white car.
