Overnight police chase in Evansville ends with suspect in custody

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

An overnight police chase ends with a suspect in custody.

Evansville police officers took 50-year-old John Lynxwiler to Vanderburgh County Jail and charged him with resisting law enforcement.

Police say at about 12:10 a.m. Lynxwiler refused to stop when an officer tried to pull him over. The chase started at Ninth and Franklin, when Lynxwiler sped off.

It ended about four minutes later when he came to a stop at 2107 Wyoming, and fled on foot.

Evansville police had a K-9 unit help out. In the process of apprehending Lynxwiler, the K-9 bit him.

Lynxwiler was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

He faces these charges:

Resisting Law Enforcement D felony
Resisting Law Enforcement A Misdemeanor
Reckless Driving Disregarding a Red Light
Disregarding a Stop Sign
Speeding
Failure to Signal a Turn
Unsafe Lane Movement
