Owensboro Park getting a makeover

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Moreland Park in Owensboro is getting a makeover.

On Tuesday, the restrooms were demolished so that new ones can be built, just like the ones at Legion Park.

During construction, park users can use the restrooms located in the press box at the baseball part of the park.

A new shelter is also being built, complete with ceiling fans.

The total cost of the improvements is $387,000. The restrooms and shelter should be finished by August.

"You can't get a shelter over there on the weekends. They're booked for birthdays, reunions, everything like that and they're heavily used. We want to make sure the amenities that we offer are clean and have a high standard and they needed it. They're looking a little tired," said Kerry Bodenheimer with the Owensboro Parks Department.

The tennis courts will be rebuilt later this summer.
