JASPER, IN (WFIE) -

A temporary fix has been decided for the space problem at the Jasper Library.

The library board has agreed to expand into the Gramelspacher-Gutzweiler Building across the street. The Jasper campus of Vincennes University has donated use of the building to the city.

Board President Bill Hewitt says the library director and some of the offices will be moved in and they are considering moving other features there as well.

Hewitt says this is a good compromise after the referendum to build a new library was voted down in November.

"I think they spoke loud and clear last November that they were not interested in increased taxes, and that's what it would have been. So, we don't know where we go from here, but it does take the pressure off the building," Hewitt said.

Again, Hewitt says this is only a temporary solution. They are still looking into building on to the current facility in the future.
