Police are looking for a suspect in the Thursday afternoon shooting on 600 block of Taylor Ave.
As we reported Wednesday, Evansville Police are seeing a lot of cases where victims won't press charges and sign a prosecution waiver.
After recent crime in the area surrounding Linwood and Adams, police urge witnesses, victims, and anyone with information on crimes to share that information with police, so residents of those streets and the whole community can stay safe.
"If you're going to stand out here as a grown-up and allow these children to be in this environment, then you are just as much of a part of a problem as the shooters are," said Sgt. Jason Cullum with EPD.
On Thursday just after noon, EPD says an argument between two people broke out in the 600 block of Taylor Avenue, and one fired three shots that sent the other to the hospital with a shot in the leg.
Cullum says the victim wouldn't give information about the suspect to lead to an arrest, and one witnesses even gave misleading information.
"We know from legitimate witnesses that his information was false and it was designed to send us in the wrong direction," Cullum said.
Victims were cooperative in an armed robbery early Wednesday morning at Linwood and Adams that led to three arrests.
Mary Marion says she's lived on the south side for around 30 years, and says she's called police before.
"If we don't give them information, then they can't continue their job. And every time I've called one, they've been Johnny-on-the-spot. They've been right there for me," Marion said.
Police say there are three main gangs in the Linwood area, and they have made some arrests since last fall. But they're looking to the public to provide the information police need to get gunmen off the streets.
"We need all the help we can get to take care of this issue," Cullum said.
EPD says they're putting the finishing touches on 'The Guardian', their armored police vehicle. Police tells 14 News that they hope that visible presence will help deter crime and gang activity in areas like this.
