EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

It's beautiful day to go out and check out the Shriner's Festival, it just opened to the public a few hours ago.

If you've never been, this festival is huge. It is packed with vendors and games from Cherry to Court Street on Riverside Drive.

This is only the second year for the Shriner's Fest after they took over the Freedom Festival, and this year they decided to open one day earlier.

It's some what of a preview day, everyone is welcome for free Wednesday, it's a great day to come out here and get a corn dog or lemon shakeup.

Starting Thursday at 10 a.m., those 13 and older will have to pay five dollars for a Shiner's Fest button that is good all weekend long, and if you are wondering about rides, those are also up and running.  Each ride cost two dollars or $17 for an all day pass.

There is plenty going on down here from live bands, beer gardens, and another special surprise.

"We are really excited this year about the air show, it's the largest air show act in North America coming in this year. 12 airplanes, which is pretty massive compared to what we have in the past," said Assistant Rabban Brian Ball.

Our own Brian Boesen will actually be flying up in one of those planes Thursday.
