EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

There's an initiative around Evansville this week to spend part of your day getting some exercise.

The Vanderburgh County Health Department and Deaconess Hospital are sponsoring 'Downtown Walks' every day this week, at 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Participants could choose to walk a one or two mile course around downtown Evansville.

There is also information about healthy living.  It's part of the Healthier Evansville Initiative.

"It's just to promote wellness throughout the community, to get people active and moving at their own pace, basically to get off the couch and do something," said Wellness Coach Liz Long.

If you would like to participate in the walks, the groups meet at the corner of Fourth and Main.
