OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Sunday night around eleven, patrol officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded a call about a shooting at 634 Chuck Gray Court. When officers arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound on his arm. 42-year-old Scotty M. Miller was taken by ambulance to O.M.H.S. From there he was transferred to Jewish Hospital in Louisville, where he was listed in serious condition.

Detectives were called to the scene and the investigation led to a location in Masonville. A search warrant was obtained for the premises located at 6510 Lilac Court. Due to the violent nature of the offense, the Owensboro Police Department Emergency Response Team, Hazardous Device Unit and Crisis Negotiations Unit were activated at 6:40 a.m. on June 4th, to serve the search warrant.

Several attempts were made in an effort to make contact with the suspect believed to be inside the residence. At 9:15, after no communication had been established, ERT officers broke a window of the residence and were able to make contact with the man inside.

59-year-old Michael W. Carter, of Utica, immediately came outside where he was detained and transported to OPD for further investigation.

The Owensboro Police Department was assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff's Office and the Kentucky State Police. The subject was charged with the following crimes and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
