Evansville Police arrested two men on drug charges during a car stop Thursday afternoon.
Officers were sent to the area of Adams and Grand for a subject with a gun complaint. They were told that "Debo" had a pistol and was threatening to shoot someone.
Officers knew "Debo" was the street name for 31-year-old Derrick Murray. Officers spotted Derrick Murray leaving the area in a car and pulled him over. During the stop, a baggie of marijuana was tossed out of the car. Derrick told officers the marijuana was his.
His brother, 28-year-old Wesley Murray, was the passenger in the car at time of the stop. While officers were conducting their investigation, Wesley Murray allegedly tried to swallow cocaine in an attempt to prevent officers from finding it.
Officers were able to prevent Wesley Murray from swallowing the drugs and recovered 19 individually wrapped baggies of rock cocaine.
Wesley Murray was arrested and charged with Dealing Cocaine, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Obstruction of Justice.
Officers arrested Derrick "Debo" Murray on a charge of Possession of Marijuana.
Officers did not find a gun, but did find 10 rounds of .357 ammunition in the car.
