Flash flooding strands Kentuckiana drivers during the morning rush

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) – Flash flooding stranded drivers and slowed traffic in some parts of Kentuckiana during the Tuesday morning rush.

One of the worst intersections was West Elm and Scribner in downtown New Albany. Several drivers were forced to stop in high water caused by heavy rain. As a result, traffic on Interstate 64 was backed up at the approach to the Sherman Minton Bridge.

At 28th and Jefferson in west Louisville, a woman on her way to work was rescued after her car got stuck in rising water. She was not injured.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for Jefferson County, KY and Clark and Floyd Counties in Indiana for a time on Tuesday morning.
