Scherm Road Project coming to a close

Posted: Updated:
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Owensboro officials say the $5.3 million Scherm Road Project is almost finished.

Owensboro leaders spent over two years widening the road and installing drainage systems to help out with flooding in that area.

A shared use path was also installed on the side of the road, but that has created some problems for residents, because they can't park two cars in their driveway anymore. The cars would block the path.

City officials recognize that and are building two car driveways for those residents affected.

"You can't make everyone entirely happy but we can work to minimize the impact on those eight residents while at the same time do the best for the rest of the community to have that shared use path," said City Manager Bill Parrish.

The project will cost $16,000 and should be finished by the end of Summer.
