HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -

Thursday, Operation Yellow Banks hit Henderson.

It's the new initiative in Kentucky to make sure sex offenders are living at their registered addresses.

State police, the US Marshals and local law enforcement checked around 15 homes.

KSP says the checks are important because people need to know who lives next door.

"Folks count on the registry, the sex offender registry, to know who's living in their neighborhood. Well, that information's got to be accurate. If you know somebody who has an issue with children, if they live next door, then you can modify your behavior," said KSP Trooper Chris Armbrust.

KSP says they perform checks like this every so often, simply as a precaution.
