MOSCOW (AP) - -

Russia's prime minister has visited a cattle farm where some American cowboys are working to help Russians develop their struggling meat industry.

Dmitry Medvedev chatted with one cowboy from the U.S. state of Idaho, who introduced him to his young son and wife.

Medvedev asked whether they had managed to learn to speak any Russian, and the man said that other than "please" and "thank you," the most important words in his Russian vocabulary were those needed for taking care of the cattle: "open the gate" and "close the gate."

Medvedev's visit Wednesday was shown on Russian television, but the names of the Americans were not given.

The farm in the Bryansk region has more than 7,000 head of Angus cattle, many of them imported from the U.S.
