EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

More than a hundred people went to Evansville's first Fitness in the Park, and to try breaking a world record.

Saturday morning, a 165 people gathered to break the Guinness World Record for most people doing push-ups in 60 seconds. They made it over halfway to the goal of 251 people. Those Evansville residents also participated in free classes like zumba and yoga. This all part of the city's plan to make Evansville more active.

"These initiatives are about raising awareness and about building community pride, and the fact that so many people are out here on our first Energize Evansville says that people want to build community pride and I think that says a lot about the city," said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke.

Next month's Fitness in the Park is coming up on June 23.
