HENRYVILLE, IN (WAVE) - As crews continue to work 'round the clock to rebuild Henryville High School, momentum is building among the student body, thanks in part to Lady Antebellum.
"A lot of time and energy's been put into it; it's going to be fun," said Henryville Junior Cody Reister.
Students are buzzing about Wednesday evening's free Lady Antebellum concert inside the KFC Yum! Center.
"It's going to mean a lot to the people at the school and to the people in the community; it's a big event for everybody," he said.
"I didn't think it was going to happen; but it did and it's kind of a once in a lifetime kind of thing for us. It's going to be really fun," sophomore Marisa Thomasson said.
In the arena's Spirit Room, the stage is being set for the prom for the Henryville High School students who won the competition after submitting videos to the band's website.
A main concert in the main area gets underway at 8:30, with up to 8,500 people expected. Some will be allowed to stand on the floor; others will be in the seats.
Money from that concert will be donated to Henryville's efforts to rebuild.
As delicious as the event might be, there's also a special cake.
"I mean look at it, it's a piece of art," said Valla Ann Marcus.
She tirelessly worked to contact the folks at the TLC show "Cake Boss" to get the cake for the prom.
Carlo's Bakery in Jersey City from the show stepped up to the challenge, donating the cake while Marcus and a student flew out Tuesday to pick it up on a donated flight from MAC Construction.
"I almost had a heart attack; I never expected anything this grand," Marcus said about the huge cake.
Henryville senior Rebekah Dickson won the trip with Marcus to Jersey City after submitting an essay in a competition.
Victor Unruh of Mac Construction and his son flew their private plane for free to Jersey City with Marcus and Dickson aboard to pick up the cake.
Marcus had to work officials at the KFC Yum! Center to get special permission to bring the cake to the arena, since another company is the exclusive cake provider for the facility.
Students attending the special prom will leave from a bus depot just after 4:00 Wednesday to head to Louisville for their private performance from Lady Antebellum, with the main show slated for 8:30 p.m.
