Vaccine offered for those possibly exposed to Hepatitis A

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A vaccination clinic is underway right now for people who may have been exposed to Hepatitis A at an Evansville restaurant.

This clinic opened up at 1:00 p.m. Friday. The Health Department tells 14 News they saw about 50 people just in the first 15 minutes. No one has been complaining of symptoms, but many are concerned about the spread of infection.

Thursday, the Health Department advised anyone who ate or drank at Lone Star Steakhouse in Evansville between April 20th to the 26th and April 27th to May 3rd, may have been exposed to Hepatitis A.

Those who visited the restaurant in mid-April cannot be vaccinated, because after 14 days within the exposure, the vaccine is not effective.

Those experiencing symptoms such as fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, vomiting, and/or stomach pain, should seek medical attention.

Symptoms usually develop within two to seven  weeks after the exposure.

The clinic will be open through May 17th.
