Trails re-opening to bikers in Daviess County

Posted: Updated:
DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Trails that have been closed at a Daviess County park for the past few years are finally reopening to the public.

Ever since the ice storm in 2009 the trails have been closed down mainly because of all the debris that just never got fully cleared up.

Since the city took ownership of Ben Hawes they've been working around the clock to really get it back on track.

Volunteers with the Kentucky Mountain Bikers Association have worked with the city and engineers to completely restructure the trails here.

Bikers and hikers will be able to enjoy six more miles of nature with clear paths.

The city will have an official re-opening ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The trails will open that day too.

Normal trail hours will be from 7 a.m. to dusk everyday.
