EVSC to cover accidental damage insurance on netbooks

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Beginning next school year, parents of EVSC high schoolers won't have to worry about buying accidental damage insurance for their students' netbooks because the school corporation will be footing the bill.

The EVSC already pays for accidental damage insurance on netbooks used by middle schoolers, and they'll start doing the same for high schoolers in the fall.

"If you have insurance and there's damage to your netbook, then you have to find the serial number, you have to fill out paperwork, you have to send it to the company. You get a partial reimbursement, you pay for the deductible, that type of thing. What we have eliminated is all of that, and now families will not have to do anything if they have an accidental damage because the EVSC will pay for it through new damage insurance," said Marsha Jackson with the EVSC.

The insurance doesn't cover deliberate damage to netbooks or netbooks that are lost or stolen.
