Chandler Town Council approves some water bill changes

CHANDLER, IN (WFIE) -

The Chandler Town Council met Monday night to discuss the water bill situation.

The town council approved several changes, including a $40 credit to those customers who were charged at start-up fee after having their water shut-off. That credit applies if the bill is paid in full. Also approved was a payment arrangement for those who can't pay their bills on time.

"I know it's hard times. I live from paycheck to paycheck to like everyone else does. If you're on a fixed income, we don't want people to have to make the decision whether they eat or pay their bills. They got to pay their bills, but we're going to work with them as much as we possibly can," said Town Council President, Brian Lucas.

The council also raised the amount a customer could be behind on their bill from $10 to $20.
