BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Deputies have arrested a man they say threatened the life of the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney. Deputies say the man tweeted the threats during the first day of the murder trial for Torence Hatch, also known as Lil Boosie.
The tweets were posted on Saturday, May 5, 2012 around 3:45 p.m. The first tweet said "I got a sniper rifle for Hillar Moore when he walk out the court house." The second tweet stated "Man them (expletive) better #freeBoosie before I shoot that (expletive) court house up." Deputies say both messages were posted by the same person. (Expletives were used in the original tweets, WAFB chose not to repeat those words.)
Investigators say "the message that references the "Shooting The Court House Up" relayed information that a crime of violence is imminent or a circumstance dangerous to human life exists or is about to exist, with the intent of causing members of the general public to be in sustained fear for their safety."
Dedrick Deandre Green, 22, is accused of public intimidation and terrorizing. An investigation revealed that the person tweeting was Green. Investigators also used photos posted on Twitter to compare to a driver's license picture.
Law enforcement officials in the court room were provided a photo of Green as a security measure and learned that he was sitting inside the court room where the Hatch trial was being conducted. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office is investigating the tweets and are not sure if Green was in the courtroom when the tweets were sent on Saturday.
Torence Hatch, a.k.a. Lil Boosie, is in trial on first degree murder charges. He is accused of paying Michael Louding to kill Terry Boyd in 2009.
Green was taken into custody and brought to an interview room where he was read his rights. Deputies say Green admitted sending the tweets but said he was just "fooling around."
Detectives explained to Green that the nature of the tweets are construed to be a threat towards the EBR D.A. Hillar Moore in an effort to influence his handling of and the outcome of the ongoing court proceedings.
Green was taken to the EBR Parish Prison and booked into jail.
