Fire destroyed a home in Posey County Monday.
Firefighters from Griffin, New Harmony and Poseyville responded to a home just off Continental Rd. in Griffin.
When they arrived on scene they found it completely engulfed in flames.
Fire officials say it had been raging for as long as a half hour before the first fire units arrived on scene.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out, but the home collapsed and is considered a complete loss.
No one was home at the time.
Officials say that two pets, a dog and what they describe as a flying squirrel, were in the home during the fire and were not able to be rescued.
