Canoe Evansville trips start for another summer season

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A popular summer activity makes a return this week.

Canoe Evansville trips with the Wesselman Nature Society are back for the season. The guided trips are taken weekly though Pigeon Creek with special trips through Hovey Lake and the Blue Grass Fish and Wildlife Area. On Saturday, several people tried their hand at canoeing and kayaking.

"Most people that go with me, they've lived in Evansville their whole lives and didn't even know we did it, didn't know Pigeon Creek was even there. They pass over bridges and don't pay attention to it, so it's a really neat thing. There's a lot of wildlife that live through there, and there's a lot of history in the creek and that kind of thing, so there's a lot of neat things to see on the creek," said Neal Bogan with Canoe Evansville.

The trips run through the end of October.
