The Owensboro Police Department is warning the community of a new scam; this one expressly aimed at college students.
They say the scam has been posted on college job boards and sent in e-mails requesting students to apply for a part-time job as a Personal Assistant/Errand-Runner.
Once people apply, the "employer" asks the new "employee" to purchase merchandise and ship it to a P.O. Box under the pretext of the employer being out of the country on business and needing these items.
The employer is also requesting personal information from the employee.
The Owensboro Police Department urges everyone to stay alert and notify authorities if you believe a scam has occurred.
