So. Illinois Priest Says He is Being Forced to Resign in July

A 14 News update on a Mount Carmel priest who says he is being forced to resign.

Father Bill Rowe of Saint Mary's Catholic Church says Bishop Edward Braxton of the Belleville Diocese has told him to quit, or he will be removed. Now the Southern Illinois Association of Priests in blocking Father Rowe. The group has agreed to hire a canon - or church - lawyer for Father Rowe to approve the Bishop's decision to Rome.

Father Rowe says if it does not work, he could be removed by July.

Bishop Braxton is reportedly unhappy with Father Rowe's modified prayers.
