Illinois State Police reports that a man was killed in single-vehicle crash in Gallatin County on Wednesday morning.
It happened around 8:35 a.m.
According to Police 72-year-old Glendell Shewmaker, of Norris City, was driving a freight truck traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 13, near Old Shawneetown Road, when for unknown reasons, he crossed the westbound lane and proceeded through a guardrail, before coming to rest down an embankment on the north side of the roadway.
Shewmaker was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.
