Advisory Board meeting on future of I-67 project

Posted: Updated:
TRI-STATE (WFIE) -

The I-67 Advisory Board will get the first look at a study for the Corridor Extension project today after months of research.

Leaders and road officials in Indiana and Kentucky have worked together to get this interstate designation established for quite some time now.

The corridor would connect to existing infrastructure like 231 the bypass and Natcher Parkway from I-69.

Today's study will look into the economic development, traffic count and funding of the project.

The advisory board has worked to raise money for the project the last couple years.

Board members say most of the funding may come from public-private partnerships.

Hank Menke with the I-67 Advisory Board said, "We're going to be looking at what people are doing currently like in Louisville with the bridge configuration the bridge there at the Spaghetti Junction they're looking at P-3 financing, it seems like P-3's are how many roads are going to be funded in the future."

That meeting today will be closed to the public and media.

The board meets today at 9 a.m. at OFS Brands office in Huntingburg, IN.

The board says it hopes to host a forum to review the findings in a few weeks.
