Armed robbery at another local Subway

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A series of restaurant robberies in Evansville, and police say they it could all be the work of the same suspect. Just last night, the Subway on Covert avenue was robbed at gunpoint.

It follows another subway robbery on Lincoln avenue last Friday.

Business appeared to be back to normal Thursday, things busy around lunchtime.

But Wednesday night, what had to have been some scary moments for employees and two customers inside when that armed gunman came in demanding money.

"That's very scary to know that, you know, you can get held up at gunpoint at any place no matter what, Subway, gas station, anywhere you know," said customer Katie Monroe.

Monroe, who was stopping by to get lunch, says she once worked at a Subway restaurant and used to live right by the restaurant on Lincoln.

"I never once thought about it being dangerous or be held at gunpoint or anything like that just going to Subway, you know," Monroe said.

"Looked out, sure enough they were everywhere," said Mike Patton, who lives near Subway.

Patton heard about what happened on the news.

He lives just down the street, and goes to the Subway often.

Patton says Wednesday night's armed robbery has him a little worried for his mother-in-law and seven-year-old grandson, who spend time at his house.

But, he's trusting police will do their job.

"I'm pretty sure they'll catch him. It's just a matter of time you know, they'll get him," Patton said.

And should another Subway, or any other restaurant for that matter, be hit, Monroe says she knows what she would do.

"Just do what they want. Give them the money, that's what they always tell me," Monroe noted.

14 News spoke with the owner of Subway. She says everything happened quickly and no one was hurt.
