GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The controversy over a goat in Greer, which city leaders said has to leave the city, has moved to Facebook.
Charles Ferguson said he has raised his pet goat Yogi since he was born. He said that Animal Control gave him a notice Monday that he must get rid of Yogi by Friday or face criminal charges.
According to a city ordinance, no one is allowed to keep livestock as a pet within the city limits. That rule was in effect long before Ferguson and Yogi moved to Greer.
Ferguson said that his goat is like family, and he's not going anywhere.
"Would the City of Greer ask you to get rid of one of your kids? No!" Ferguson said. "That's like asking me to get rid of one of my kids. This is my kid. It's not going to happen."
Since Ferguson's story aired on FOX Carolina News Tonight on Monday, supporters of Yogi have created a Facebook page to garner more support for the loveable kid.
The "Let Yogi The Goat Stay" page has garnered more than 200 fans, and all of them said that the goat should be allowed to stay.
FOX Carolina has planned to speak with Ferguson on Friday to see what happens.
