LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Singer Cyndi Lauper will serve as Grand Marshal of the 57th annual Republic Bank Pegasus Parade on May 3, the Kentucky Derby Festival announced on Thursday.
Lauper will perform a brief set before the start of the Pegasus Parade, and she will appear earlier in the day at the Derby Festival's Celebrity Day at the Downs.
"Not only will girls have more fun at this year's Republic Bank Pegasus Parade, everyone will have a blast watching the spectacle move down Broadway on May 3," said Stacey Robinson, Kentucky Derby Festival's Senior Vice President of Operations. "The Pegasus Parade is one of our most colorful and beloved events, and we think Cyndi Lauper will bring tremendous energy and excitement as Grand Marshal. Cyndi is known all over the world, and we're delighted to host her for her time in Louisville."
Lauper is a Grammy, Emmy, MTV VMA, Billboard and AMA award-winner. Her video for Girls Just Want to Have Fun made Lauper an MTV staple.
Lauper recently appeared on NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice.
WAVE 3 has been the official broadcast home of the Pegasus Parade since 1982. The 57th annual Republic Bank Pegasus Parade will air live on WAVE 3 on Thursday, May 3 at 5:30 p.m.
