OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Work is ahead of schedule at Smothers Park in Downtown Owensboro.
Project Manager Ted Lolley says the mild winter weather has allowed work to start on every aspect of the park including the four fountain areas. Landscaping is also underway and trees are being planted.
"We're really taking advantage of the excellent weather we have right now. You know the only thing that could be improved is daylight hours could be longer and we would really like that," said Lolley. "We are working every day that we can to get a hedge on the delivery date to the city and people of Owensboro."
Opening day is set for August 23rd.
