GIBSON COUNTY, IN (WFIE) -

Sunday, two trucks carrying anhydrous gas tanks collided in Gibson County.

It happened around 12 p.m. on State Road 68 and County Road 290 West.

According to the Gibson County Sheriff's Office, the two anhydrous tanks overturned in the roadway and one was leaking.

Deputy Sheriff Brad Garnett says fortunately neither of the tanks were structurally damaged. There was just damage to a valve, so there was no major spillage.

Emergency crews used a loader to get the tanks set back up and moved off the roadway.

Anhydrous ammonia is a very dangerous substance to the eyes and skin and Garnett says they were relieved it didn't leak more than it did.

"When we were on our way here, we were in contact with our dispatch getting wind direction, wind speed, that way we had the most current information so that in case we needed to evacuate somebody, thankfully that wasn't the case," said Garnett.

State Road 68 was closed down for about 45 minutes while rescue workers dealt with the situation.
