July 16, 1982
Vanderburgh County, Indiana
Joe Carl Vincent, 49, was found shot to death July 16, 1982 outside the BFI Landfill on Laubscher Road. He had been shot four times. Police had no leads in his murder.
In July, 1997 the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department got a break in the case, but it still hasn't led to an arrest.
Acting on a tip, investigators went to the Black River Bridge in Griffin, Indiana and found their first physical evidence in a decade in a half.
Police found a rusty Dan Wesson .357 Magnum revolver with a one and a half inch barrel, a ski mask, and a billfold containing Mr. Vincent's I.D's.
Family members of Vincent say it was an ironic twist his belongings were found at Black River Bridge. They say he frequented the area often with friends to go fishing.
Because of that, they believe his murderer was no stranger.
