New study ordered on proposed hotel in downtown Evansville

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

There has been a decision made on whether they will be another study before construction can begin on a proposed hotel in downtown Evansville.

The Evansville Redevelopment Commission has now ordered a third feasibility analysis, this one done by Hunden Strategic Partners. The new study will take between 6 and 8 more weeks.
In December, the city agreed on 8 million dollars in incentives to get construction started
The Kunkel group said they were ready to build a Sheraton hotel, but that was put on hold because Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he wanted a study to see if the 220 room hotel was big enough.

The Kunkel Group continues to say there is no guarantee they'll still be available to build the hotel once the analysis is done. They want to build now.
