VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

UPDATE: A two-alarm barn fire, just north of Evansville has been controlled and contained, but will not be completely extinguished for a while.

More than a dozen local departments responded to the call around 5:40, to help fight the fire.

The barn is located on Bromm Road in the Scott Township territory. Bromm road has been closed as crews work on the fire.

There were no people or animals inside the barn.

An investigator for Scott Township Fire Department, Nathan Stoermer, tells us crews also responded to a fire near the barn at 9 o'clock last night. That fire was near an outside furnace. Stoermer tell us they completely extinguished that fire before they left.

He says at this point he believes the fires are unrelated. So far they are listing the cause of Wednesday morning's fire as "unspecified, but of suspicious nature".

The barn housed Farm equipment, machinery (such as Bobcats), and 150 bales of hay, which made it tougher to get under control.

When the fire is finally out, investigators will begin trying to figure out what caused it.
